SIV EMERALD is the sixth solar boat in the popular Destiny series. What makes this project truly remarkable is its demonstration of how large companies like Cochin Shipyard Limited can positively impact #MSME #shipyards through their #CSR initiatives.
In the past, CSL has faced criticism for taking on the construction of small vessels—such as fishing boats, ambulance boats, ROROs, and electric boats—either as part of their #CSR efforts or due to government bodies (Ministry of Ports , Shipping and Waterways (India), Inland Waterways Authority Of India (IWAI), State Governments, or Kochi Municipal Corporation) bypassing open tenders (read here https://sandith.in/2024/11/20/struggles-of-msme-boatyards-again/).
I hope this initiative sets a precedent for larger organisations to actively engage with #MSME shipyards, fostering their growth through collaborative projects and mentorship.
